Child Support And Spousal Support (Alimony)
Child Support
If you have children with your ex-spouse (or soon to be ex-spouse), then someone is going to be paying child support. And yes, it is usually higher than you expect it to be. The most thing to remember is that child support is determined by a computer program (called Dissomaster), which we will walk through with you step-by-step if it applies to your case.
Spousal Support
Spousal support is meant to provide financial security to the lesser-earning spouse both during and after a divorce. Short-term, spousal support is usually calculated via a computer program, but long-term, spousal support is determined by analyzing many different factors enumerated in the California Family Code (Family Code Section 4320). However, rest-assured we will walk you through this sometimes confusing and nebulous law.
