Divorce Mediation Versus Divorce Litigation
I recently came across an article espousing the benefits of divorce mediation, rather than litigation, which I found informative: https://www.americanbar.org/groups/young_lawyers/publications/the_101_201_practice_series/benefits_of_mediation_in_divorce_cases.html
My family law practice currently consists of about 50% mediation cases and 50% litigation cases. Mediation is generally less expensive, less stressful, and more cooperative. When done most efficiently, you can finish your divorce in a matter of a few short weeks/months and you never have to step into a courthouse.
Another benefit of mediation is there is actually no need to even meet with me in person, unless you want to. Although I am happy to schedule in-person meetings, I generally complete 95% of mediations via phone and email. This means that, while I am located in Dublin, I have been able to help mediate cases remotely for couples living in the East Bay or around the whole Bay Area, with no need to travel.
If you are going through a divorce and are interested in mediation, please call me to discuss the process and costs.
By the way, I’d like to thank all my clients who have left me a Yelp review. As you can see from this blog’s header image, Yelp has informed me that:
“It’s official — People on Yelp love East Bay Family Law & Mediation!”
Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July!
